Reflecting on 2024: Fueling Brains and Building Resilience
2024 was a year of growth and resilience for me. I navigated significant personal changes, including a broken hand, which forced me to prioritize self-care and truly embody the principles I teach. This experience reinforced the importance of focusing on the fundamentals: food, sleep, movement, breathing, and supportive connections.
Despite these challenges, Natasha and I achieved some incredible milestones. We rebuilt our website and had the privilege of sharing our knowledge and insights through a variety of impactful programs and presentations.
Mental Health Seminars:
"Six Pillars of Mental Health" at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, offering a comprehensive approach to mental well-being through nutrition, sleep, movement, light, breathing, and lab testing.
Continuous Glucose Monitor for Mental Health” and “Ferritin: A Key Player In Mental Health” presented at Health Masters Live, reaching a global audience of healthcare professionals. Anyone can purchase and learn from these seminars.
"Food as Medicine: Certification Course for Mental Health Professionals" with PESI, a comprehensive online course designed to equip mental health professionals with the knowledge and tools to integrate nutrition into their practice.
"Polyvagal Ladder, Fueling Your Brain and Label Reading to Improve Energy and Mental Clarity" at Mindset-Tacoma, providing valuable insights to individuals on their journey to mental wellness.
Seminars Connected to the Courts:
"Judicial Officer Burnout and Impacts on Litigants" presented as the Keynote Speaker to District and Municipal Court Judges, highlighting the importance of self-care and stress management for judicial professionals. (Memorable quote: Two Judges shared similar texts to their spouses: "Yes, you are right I am burned-out and I need to eat better.")
"How To Have More Energy and Mental Clarity And Less Cravings!" for Kitsap Drug Court, empowering individuals with actionable strategies for improving their well-being. (Memorable quote: "I am bringing food for all the court staff at my next hearing.")
"Preventing Burnout and Increasing Civility in Courts" through a series of brown bag training sessions for Superior Court members, staff, and attorneys general.
Consulting & Community Engagement:
Collaborated with the Administration of the Courts, AOC, to develop the Protein for All™ Startup Toolkit, which provides valuable resources for implementing nutrition programs in the legal system. You can find the Protein for All Tool Kit on the AOC website WAcita.org/proteinforall and for our website ProteinForAll.org
Continued my service as a Board Member for Career Paths Services by providing a brown bag seminar for WorkSource of King County, supporting their mission to break the cycle of poverty through the dignity of work.
Re-launched the Learning Collective, providing a free monthly valuable platform for community members to connect, learn, and grow together.
Natasha and I are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have made a positive impact in 2024. We look forward to continuing to share my knowledge and expertise with the world and empowering individuals to prioritize their mental and physical well-being.
